Kvæsthusmolen and the Playhouse

The project for the Kvæsthusmolen pier is part of a competition won by Lundgaard and Transbjerg architects 2002 along with the new playhouse, Skuespilhuset. The construction of the house was completed in 2007. COWI Engineers received DKK 5 millions to develop, demonstrate and test the energy concepts applied in the Playhouse as part of a large-scale EU-funded project called ECO-Culture.

After the playhouse was completed the ongoing construction of the area proceeded with a large parking basement and establishment of the social spot, Ofelia Beach. The parking is build up as a 3-story underground facility with the capacity of 500 cars. The upper roof is created of glasstones, which allows the daylight to light up the spacing.
