DTU Engineering Technology helps to realize DTU’s ambition of offering Europe’s best BEng programme and life long learning. Educating BEng students with special, sought-after practical and vocational competences is key to everything we do.
The BEng programme with unique potential due to the combination of DTU’s world-leading research environments, DTU Engineering Technology’s practical expertise, and the special DNA of the programme itself: business-orientation, practical knowledge, and a focus on solutions.
Implementation and innovation of technology are central to DTU’s work and to the University’s benefit to society. DTU Engineering Technology contributes to this part of DTU’s work through its focus on the practical application of the research and innovative solutions developed at the University.
The links between practice and the broad implementation of engineering technology, and the ongoing documentation of this, is key to the practice-oriented knowledge base on which DTU’s BEng programme rests.
Half the students who started studying at DTU in 2019 chose a professional engineering programme. The graduates are sought-after by employers and often secure job offers even before they finish their final projects.
DTU Engineering Technology’s research field is based on technology implementation and engineering practice, and thus has direct links to the industry’s current challenges and development needs. Through business collaborations in teaching, student projects and at the employee level, we systematically develop tools, methods, and theories for implementation and hands-on transfer of technology, knowledge, and engineering through new products and solutions in cooperation with companies.

Real-world engineering expertise and hands-on technology implementation
DTU Engineering Technology actively works with technology implementation and engineering companies at both student and employee level.
The cooperation with companies is integrated into the teaching in the BEng programmes, where the students encounter real-life cases from companies in auditorium teaching, laboratory teaching, and in project and internships. All BEng programmes offer company internships. In addition, 95 per cent of the department’s final BEng projects are carried out in cooperation with companies.
On the ‘Innovation Pilot’ course, an interdisciplinary course for all BEng students across DTU organized by DTU Engineering Technology, all DTU BEng students gain direct experience by working with companies’ specific innovation and technology implementation needs.
The courses emphasize project work and teamwork, and during their education, all students will attend an internship. This means that, as a graduate engineer, you are well equipped to solve engineering tasks for the benefit of society and the business community, both nationally and internationally.
An Applied Engineering Education programme takes 3½ year, including half a year of internship in a Danish or foreign company.
