The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail

The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail is 28 kilometers long and stretches from Ishøj in the south along Ring 3 to Lundtofte north of Lyngby.

The Greater Copenhagen Light Rail has a total of 29 stations, connecting 8 municipalities in the Capital Region, and offering easy access to hospitals (Herlev and Glostrup), the Technical University of Denmark and a wide range of other large educational institutions and companies.

The southernmost half of the light rail route – from Ishøj to Rødovre Nord – was inaugurated on October 26, 2025. The northern half of the route will open this summer.

Passengers can change between Light Rail and S-train at 6 stations: Ishøj, Vallensbæk, Glostrup, Herlev, Buddinge and Lyngby.

The Light Rail Control and Maintenance Center is in Glostrup, and the building contains both an operational part with a staging area and a workshop for the operation and maintenance of the light rail trains, and an administrative part from which operations are controlled.

BBP ARKITEKTER has designed the building, which is inspired by the materials and colors of the railway with rust-colored corten plates and three-meter-high gates. CG Jensen has constructed the building with all concrete and steel work in-house production. The building is 9,000 square meters and was built as a turnkey project.
