Nordhavnstunnel 2
The Danish Road Directorate is building a tunnel under Svanemøllehavnen and Kalkbrænderiløbet in Østerbro in Copenhagen. It will be an extension of the Nordhavnsvej tunnel to Nordhavn.
The tunnel will be 1.4 kilometers long, starting at Nordhavnsvej/east side of Strandvænget and ending at Kattegatvej in Nordhavn. The goal of the Nordhavnstunnel is to create more direct access to the urban development areas in outer and inner Nordhavn, as well as improving access to port activities in the area. A large part of the heavy traffic will also be moved away from the rest of the road network in Østerbro. It is expected that the new tunnel can be put into use at the end of 2027.
It is expected that in the opening year in 2027, there will be approximately 8,200 cars per day. The project will be prepared for a future Eastern Ring Road.
The project's total budget in 2023 prices amounts to DKK 3,956 million.
As part of the project, the Danish Road Directorate is also constructing a temporary replacement port at Færgehavn Nord, where approximately half of the approximately 1,500 boats in Svanemølle Harbour will be relocated.
