What makes a good case

From previous projects we have learned that a good case typically contains the following aspects:

  • Open problem - various approaches to solutions
  • Technical component - appeals to engineers
  • Real problem - the solution must be unknown

  • Access to data
  • Opportunity for field study - users, customers, employees

Typical problems

  • Unused resource
  • New market development (new needs/demands)
  • The future (new needs/technology/demands)

  • Waste of resources (time, materials, costs)
  • Threats (market, competitors, technology)
  • New requirements / legislative changes
